What is a pneumatic hoist? What is the difference between it and electric hoist?

July 29, 2021

Pneumatic hoist is the ideal explosion-proof lifting equipment in the world. Commonly used pneumatic hoists include three types: vane type, piston type and cylinder type. It is mainly composed of four parts, namely the air distribution system, the power system, the deceleration system and the winch system. Electric hoist is a kind of special lifting equipment, installed on the crane and gantry crane.

1. Working principle

The pneumatic hoist uses air as the driving force, and the drive motor drives the internal mechanical parts to meet the requirements of lifting heavy objects. Because it does not require a power source to drive, it has an explosion-proof function. Electric hoist is the use of electric energy to make equipment work through voltage.

2. Load capacity

The lower load capacity of the pneumatic hoist is 250kg, and the larger load capacity can reach 100 tons. The lower load capacity of the electric hoist is 490kg, and the larger load capacity can reach 30 tons.

3. Speed up

The lifting speed of the pneumatic hoist is generally 17m/min, which is almost four times that of the electric hoist.

4. Safety performance

Pneumatic hoist air is used as the driving force, no sparks will be generated during use, it has explosion-proof function and high safety. The electric hoist is driven by electric energy. During use, electric leakage or electric shock may occur, which may cause sparks and high safety hazards.

5. Application areas

Pneumatic hoists are widely used in flammable and explosive workplaces due to their explosion-proof function, such as: chemical industry, petroleum and coal mines, oil storage, shipbuilding, etc. Electric hoists are widely used in the presence of power sources, equipment maintenance and machinery hoisting, such as shot blasting machines, machining workshops, and foundries.
